31 Mar, 2004 1:37 pm “GO” Button Missing 7.1 [sdp=29674]

Downloaded 7.1 streamlined on new laptop, noticed no “GO” (Next to Search) on toolbar…
(Like Firefox 8 BTW)
Uninstalled streamline, installed full.
No diff
The 7.1 I version I have on Desktop Computer has the “GO” Button…It’s quite a drag without it
Any suggestions
Cheers

You can add a "Go" button (at least in Mozilla 1.6) by opening Mozilla (or Netscape), clicking on Edit|Preferences|Navigator. There are, in Mozilla 1.6, check boxes to add buttons labeled Bookmarks, Search, Go, Print, and Home. Netscape probably has even more choices. Fill in your choices and click on the OK button. In the past, people have reported that you may have to go through a cycle of unchecking and checking the boox in order to get a change to "stick."

Gee Prof
I've been using Netscape since there was a Netscape, the fact that I didn't know about this "awfully complicated" workaround is frankly embarrassing not to mention...
I'll report back
Cheers

Done..on both browsers...
I can't tell you how many times I've been at the Navigator screen and not once did I ever notice those toolbar options.
Thanks again
Cheers

There are endless options tucked away in every software program, especially browsers. It's impossible to keep track of all of them. That's why there are places like SillyDog.

Thanks for reporting back!

It is not so bad, and I have unchecked all the other boxes, and checked only the "Go" box. My suggestion to everyone is to check, at least, the preferences, and if one hit a blank, it is time to ask. Too many times there have been questions placed because the assumption was made that the Gold standard is NS4.x, and 7.x does not match it. This is not necessarily true.
The fun part is that while NS7.1 has a function in one place, a later Mozilla has moved it. I can't keep up with all these features.
One neat way to get a Home button in the Navigation toolbar is from:
http://3rdhand.info/mozilla/home/ This works with all Netscapes6/7 and Mozillas, and places a button to the left of the URL area.
Thanks to DJGM for this simple, but nice feature.
