AnandTech has terrific writeup on the new Adobe Flash 10.1.

Using the GPU acceleration has produced some very promising results at significantly dropping CPU usage.

Flash 10.1 is available in beta form now and the final version is supposed to be out next year. Available for Windows, OS X and Linux.

Sounds like a great news.

Sorry, this just can't get off my head. Shifting processing to GPU while freeing up CPU is something Paul Thurrott would praise heavily if Microsoft does that. When Apple does that, Thurrott commented completely differently. I wonder if Adobe is considered Thurrott's friend or enemy.

So basically my IGP is supported but my discrete graphics card isn't? Wonderful, ATI. Just wonderful. Well, hopefully I'll be upgrading my graphics card soon (either a higher end 4800 or a 5700).

I'm the exception, not the rule. Remember that, and you'll be all right.

Is adobe supposed to be adding 64-bit with 10.1, or are we 64 bit users going to have to wait even longer?

There's an alpha quality, 64bit version of Flash 10.1 for Linux out now. Adobe has stated that following the Flash 10.1 release there will be a 64bit version of Flash for Windows.

I knew about the one for Linux. And I'm happy to hear about the one for Windows. Once flash is out for 64-bit browsers, I can finally move to one.
