Mornin-

In process of purchasing a new router, I still play some old school gaming like Counter-Strike. I am looking forward to Starcraft 2 when it comes out, or if it has already. What I want essentially is a router that will provide quality gaming experiences while maximixing my bandwidth. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Jordan

Are you looking to use a wired or wireless connection to the router?

My friends and I have had good experiences with Linksys 802.11g hardware, many of us run either the WRT54G or some derivative of it. The newer 802.11n hardware is no exception: we deployed one of these at work over the summer, along with some Linksys-brand 802.11n client hardware, and I can say we had some pretty fast simultaneous transfers going on for both the wired-wireless and wireless-wireless connections.

You probably don't need anything with the VPN layer like that one, but I'd definitely check out the Linksys 802.11n offerings, particularly either the WRT150N or the WRT310N if you're going to be running over Ethernet. They also have a router designed for gaming, though I'd have my doubts that it's that much different from one of the other models.
