Is SD701 based to version 2.x still?

Unfortunately, it is.

Thank you for reminding. I will find time to test the new software.

What is the situation now?

Forum's footer states "Powered by phpBB © 2001 - 2006 phpBB Group" in October '09.

Will it fix the bug that if one uses the 'font size' in the "BBCode quick Control bar", one gets a set of size=some-color tags instead?
- tiny = darkred
- small = red
- normal = orange
- large = brown
- huge = yellow
Also, the example says "size=x-small", but that is not one of the choices.

To actually get a size one has to specify a point value, such as: size=16. Which is not documented. (Whereas the colour tip of "color=#hexvalue IS documented.) (Aside: why 'colour' and 'color'?)

A good point, but the working and secure platform for the forum is the most important reason to update.

Can you ask help for configuring and testing from some of the SD 701 Forum members, Antony?

I have been quite busy recently. There are a huge number of MODs, including private ones. That's the main issue of delaying.

As for security aspect, there are also a quite a few enhancements added on top of default phpBB software over the years.

Won't be long. Thank you for reminding me again.

PaulD, you can modify the post and change the size to 10, i.e. change 'red' to '10' before clicking Submit. Value 10 is almost the same as small.

Let's hope that the new software is up and running when Antony's project is finished. Good luck!

Any news or progress updates? It's been nearly 13 months since phpBB 2.0.x was officially discontinued.

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.7) Gecko/20100105 SeaMonkey/2.0.2 (like Firefox/3.5.x)

SeaMonkey = Swiss Army Knife: It's versatile, reliable, and contains useful tools.
Windows Internet Explorer = Old Swiss Cheese: Full of holes, and it stinks!

I definitely feel that's it's time for a change. Another tech forum I frequent has been running the impressive new vBulletin 4 software for a number of weeks now. This place feels really outdated by comparison.

There are another two things I'd like to bring up along with a transition with some more up-to-date forum software.

1) The size of images being posted here are limited to 550 pixels wide. We're targeting people using 15" CRTs with a resolution of 800x600. That's not happening any more. It's 2010 now; we should be targeting people that use LCD monitors with a resolution of 1280x1024. Notebooks produced over the last few years tend to also have a minimum resolution of 1280x800, so we're dealing with the same image width there too. My suggestion is to increase the image width that is permitted to 1024 pixels wide. I can't speak for other people here but I'm thoroughly sick of posting these tiny little images and then having to link to images of a decent size.

2) The size of avatars is limited to 80x80 pixels. Again, this is 2010, not 1999. I recommend an increase to something in the order of 150x150.

Points taken.

Sorry, I have been pretty busy still. I will get it out as soon as I can.

We are waiting for the status updates... there are several other improvements made and the stability in phpBB 3 is better too.

The fact is that today is mid-February and 2010...
