The picture quality over HDMI on the PS3 is simply awesome. I'm downloading a whole pile of demos now, and I'll probably pick up a second controller, Resistance: Fall of Man and maybe a BluRay movie tomorrow.

Congratulations on your PlayStation 3. Wishing I had one.

New speakers!

They are Cyber Acoustics CA-3080. It's a 2.1 system, so I finally have a subwoofer to get some decent bass. I picked these up for $33 at Staples because my old JBL speakers which I've been using for eight years are finally starting to die.

Looks nice, and matches your setup. And I hope they sound good.

It took me a while to find speakers that match my setting. (Yes, the look is more important in my case.)

My latest gadget (for about 2 weeks), beside the MacBook Pro:

Note the red thing in the photo. It's a Vodafone Mobile Broadband data card (ExpressCard/34).

I got an Insignia NS-DXA1 DTV tuner today. I got it for $20 with one of these $40 coupons.

The antenna is the same one I used for analog TV, a GE Optima TV94713. Unlike the expensive tuners that Antony and beanboy89 have, or Mandrake's Sony Bravia HDTV, this box can only output 480i back to a standard-def TV.

I'm probably going to write a review a bit later.

Don, I recommend you getting a good rooftop antenna or a satellite dish for better signal.

The signal's actually pretty good here with the rabbit ears and UHF loop. I'm only 6km or so away from where most of the broadcast towers are situated.

For awhile with analog TV I was using two antennas so that I could pick up Channel 25 (WFXT, which broadcasts from a different direction than the others, without having to reposition the rods. Now it seems to come in fine with just one, though.

I got a new TV today!

Sony Bravia 52-inch W series LCD TV (KDL52W3100). It should be the same series as Mandrake's Sony TV, just slightly larger.

Quick specs:
52-inch LCD, full HD 1080p, integrated HD tuner, 3x HDMI inputs, 2x component inputs, 2x S-video inputs, 3x composite inputs, 1x PC input. viewing angle: 178˚

New compact digital camera bought on Wednesday.

Samsung L730, 7.2 megapixel, 3x optical zooming only.

This is not to replace my Sony DSC H9 digital camera, but a compact version that I will carry it with me most of the time.

Just got a new (vintage late-1980s/early-1990s) cable box. It is a Scientific Atlanta Set Top Terminal Series 8500. It was in a free box at a yard sale. I've plugged it in and it seems to work pretty well.
