I've found this very interesting PDF file that would suggest that work is well
underway to bring Phoenix style customizable toolbars to the next major
revision of Netscape 7.x, apparently codenamed "Buffy". Although I'm
sure there will be no vampire slaying features implemented anytime
soon(!), this is surely a welcome improvement to Netscape's UI.

SeaMonkey = Swiss Army Knife: It's versatile, reliable, and contains useful tools.
Windows Internet Explorer = Old Swiss Cheese: Full of holes, and it stinks!

I hope it becomes a reailty.

I would prefer to have a shorter address bar, with the Mail, Home, Radio, My Netscape, and Shop buttons on the main toolbar instead of on the row underneath it.

Use K-Meleon? No way!

When I installed K-Meleon 0.7, it totally blanked the Personal Toolbar
in both Netscape 7 and Mozilla! I think Fulvio will back me up on this.

I'm not touching K-M again until they've fixed this (IMO) serious bug!

NEVER EVER share a NS/Moz/Phx bookmark file used in K-M with NS/Moz/Phx. There will be problems. Trust me.

There was never any problems with sharing the bookmark file from Netscape
and/or Mozilla with earlier versions of K-Meleon. It's only when K-M v0.7 was
released did any problems start to occur with bookmarks. Apparently, there's
a new K-Meleon Bookmarks Plugin that's been released this week. Perhaps
that cures the problem, or maybe not, but I'm not even gonna go there!

That's right, you can pretty much count on customization within a very short amount of time. A lot of the architecture is already there, but it's performance issues that are slowing things down.

Does anyone know if they are going to do anything about changing the default GUI's (Classic and Modern). They really are two of the most unattractive interfaces I've ever used.

The Classic reminds me way too much of the hideous, drab turquoise desktop you get when you first install Win95/98. The Modern is just too monochromatic and basically just boring. I've tried a couple of variations on the Orbit themes, but I find those just as annoying. I've also tried a couple of other Themes, but I've noticed that they don't seem to show the pop-up icon in the status bar. Hopefully they can come up with something like Phoenix's new default them, Qute.
